Brad Childress to unretire, will join Matt Nagy in Chicago

Well, that was quick. Brad Childress is coming out of retirement.

The 61-year-old former assistant head coach will join former Chiefs offensive coordinator and Bears head coach Matt Nagy in Chicago, per a report from Adam Caplan of ESPN.

Childress and Nagy served the Chiefs as co-offensive coordinators for the 2016 season, before Childress became the Chiefs’ assistant head coach for 2017.

Childress was the team’s spread game analyst and special projects coach from 2013 to 2015, so offensive consultant sounds like it could be a similar role.

The only odd part here is that Childress didn’t announce he was leaving the Chiefs; he told them he was retiring.

It appears Nagy convinced him not to do so.
