Chiefs to acquire CB Kendall Fuller in Alex Smith trade

The Washington Redskins’ player involved in the Alex Smith trade is CB Kendall Fuller, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs traded Smith to Washington in exchange for what Schefter is reporting is a third round pick and Fuller.

(UPDATE) After initially thinking he wasn’t traded earlier in the night (really, Redskins?), Fuller finally tweeted this, confirming the deal:

Fuller was a 2016 third-round pick. The last Virginia Tech corner worked out well for the Chiefs (hi, Brandon Flowers). Plus, Pro Football Focus liked him a lot.

The Chiefs had obvious cornerback problems in 2017, so this certainly hits on a need. It’s also a high enough pick that I wonder if we can cross this off of the Chiefs high-priority list for the 2018 draft.

It also makes me think that Darrelle Revis might not be back next season at $10 million per.

I glanced at his Wikipedia page and, fittingly, his first career interception came against Raiders QB Derek Carr. Keep up the great work, kid.
